Councilman Lou D'Angelo


Louis D’Angelo has been a resident of Totowa for the past 21 years.  He and his wife Catherine and their two boys, Peter and Louis, reside at 89 Columbus Avenue.
Lou was born in Italy and moved to the United States at age 13.  He graduated from P.S. 27 Grammar School where he learned to speak English and went on to graduate Dickinson High School in Jersey City.  From 1969 to 1976, he was employed by Two Guys Department Store.  While in their employment, he worked his way up to Operations Manager and attended Rutgers’s College.  In 1976, Lou began work in the accounting department of Bruzzone Shipping Company and obtained the position of Vice President before leaving in 1983.  From 1983 to 1993, he was involved in the automobile business selling exotic cars and owning his own leasing company.  He began working for Jersey Mortgage Company in 1993 as a Loan Officer and was promoted to Vice President in 2001.  In 2008 Lou started and presently owns LCD Mortgage located in Totowa.

Lou has been a member of the St. James of the Marches Knights of Columbus since 1996, is a former Grand Knight and is currently a Trustee.  He was named Man of the Year in 1998 and again in 2003.  He has been organizing the Knights Annual Golf Outings for 8 years.  He and his family have been active members of St. James Church and have served on various committees. He was a member of the Totowa PAL since 1995 and served as Chairman of the Soccer program for 10 years.  He is also a member of the Rutherford chapter of UNICO, the Rotary Club, the Bergen County 200 Club, FOP Lodge 46 and the Totowa Republican Club.   He was awarded the Silver Shield from the Totowa PBA in 2003.  In 2000, Lou along with his brothers and others was involved in starting a non-profit organization called SOGNA to keep the older and newer generations involved in their hometown of Gioi in Italy.  Lou was also awarded the Totowa PTO’s Lifetime Membership in June 2005.  He served on the Totowa Education Foundation’s Board from 2002 through 2003 and was elected to the Totowa Board of Education in 2003.  In November 2009 he was installed as a member of the Paterson Serra Club and is a Trustee. In 2012 he received the PAL Lifetime award.

Lou was appointed to the Council in September of 2005 and elected in November of 2005 to his first term.  He is Chairman of the Finance Committee and a member of the Public Works Committee as well as Engineering and Public Property Committee.
