Councilwoman Carolyn Fontanella


Carolyn Fontanella has resided in the Borough of Totowa since 1974.  Along with her husband Al, she has raised her three children Jimmy, Christin and Alexa in our community.  Following her graduation from Seton Hall University School of Nursing in 1984, she began working at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson.  She is currently employed as the office manager at her family business, Festa Memorial Funeral Home. In addition, Carolyn has recently returned to school in order to further her education in the health field. She has completed her training and has received advanced certification as a practitioner of acupressure, an adjuvant therapy used in conjuction with traditional health care treatment modalities.

She was a past member and past president of the Totowa Board of Education, as well as a past member and past vice-president of the executive Board of the Passaic Valley Football Parent’s Association. As a Councilwoman, she has served on the Finance Committee, the Committee of Legislation of Ordinances, and the Public Safety Committee. Currently, Carolyn is serving as the Chairwoman of the Engineering and Public Property Committee.

Carolyn currently supports various community activities and organizations such as the Totowa Board of Education, the Totowa PAL, the Totowa Board of Recreation, the Totowa Municpal Alliance, Murph's Boys Charitable Association and the Northern Chapter of the Guardians of the Ribbon. She is also a member of the Biship Rodimer Community Center Fund Raising Committee.

For her continued support of Totowa PBA 80, she was recognized as the recipient of the 2009 Totowa PBA Silver Card Award.  She is currently a member of the Totowa Boro Republican Club.
