MEALS ON WHEELS : A hot meal delivered to the home-bound daily.
WEEKEND MEALS ON WHEELS : Home delivered meals Saturday and Sunday.
S.H.I.P. : Provides assistance in filling out medical and insurance forms (State Health Insurance Assistance Program).
H.A.A.A.D. (Hearing Aid Assistance For The Aged & Disabled) : Allows $100.00 rebate for hearing aids.
LIFELINE : A public assistance program to help seniors meet the cost of their gas and electricity.
H.E.A.P. (Home Energy Assistance Program) : A program that helps seniors to pay heating fuel in the winter and cooling in the summer.
CONGREGATE MEALS : A system of 14 nutrition centers throughout the county where seniors can receive a hot lunch for a minimal donation and can socialize with their contemporaries.
MED-CAP : A Passaic County Medical Society Program.
PCWDC (Passaic County Workforce Development Center) : Training, employment for 55 years and up.

Totowa Welfare Office is located on the first floor of the Municipal Building at 537 Totowa Road, Totowa, NJ 07512. Telephone number: 973-956-8555.
Office is open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and on Tuesday nights 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM or as assistance is needed.
To take care of Totowa residents (singled or couples) who are in need of financial or medical assistance and temporarily in dire straights at the present time. The assistance given is for a short period of time to qualified residents of Totowa. It should not be considered as unemployment benefits or any other type of long-term benefits. All clients will be subject to certain mandates imposed by the State of New Jersey. Clients applying must submit their social security card, driver’s license and a recent paid monthly bill with our town address on it. Those applying for unemployment status must bring in a doctors form stating that they are not able to work at the present time and for how long unemployment will be. If recently released from Drug or Alcohol Rehab Unit, a letter is required stating when you were released and the length of time in Rehab, etc. If you are an Alien or Non-Citizen we will need to see your Passport and Green Card, and if you do not speak English please bring an interpreter with you when coming in to apply for benefits. All Employable and some Unemployable clients will be required to go to Employment and Labor Services classes located in Paterson, NJ.
If you are Married or Single and have children you must apply for (AFDC) Assistance for Family and Dependent Children – call the Passaic County Social Services located at 80 Hamilton Street, Paterson, NJ, telephone number: 973-881-0100. If you are applying for the Passaic County Food Stamps office, that also is located at the same address, telephone number: 973-881-2500. This office is here to help, aid and assist residents of Totowa.
